6 Ways to Love On Yourself
Disclosure: I was provided with June Jacobs products in order to review. All opinions and thoughts on these and other products mentioned, are all my own. I know Valentine's Day is on Friday but let me ask you a question: when was the last time you loved on yourself?
As a Mami, I think giving self-love is the one thing that we never make time for. I am looking forward to changing that by starting small. I have been taking small moments to pamper myself because I find that if I try to plan for a spa day, for example, it never happens.
Here's how I love myself a little at a time.
June Jacobs Lemon Sugar Body Polish
I am horrible at keeping up with the needs of my skin. A good scrub goes a long way in making sure my skin stays healthy. And this one makes me feel luxurious and definitely is a little piece of heaven in my shower. JuneJacob.com ($48)
June Jacobs Perfect Pumpkin Peeling Enzyme Masque
First of all, I had to stop myself from eating this. It smells just. like. pumpkin. pie. But outside of that, I love that this purifying pumpkin enzyme masque is a natural, gentle enzyme peel that I can use at home. JuneJacobs.com ($78)
Sinful Colors
I have a confession. I'm addicted to Sinful Colors. Up until this past fall, I hadn' really painted my fingernails in about 4 years. I grow beautiful nails (thanks, Mami) but with me spending the majority of my day typing away, I tend to keep them fairly short. Add to that the fact that after having long nails for so long, I always think colors look best on long nails and that explains my hiatus from color. But, these beautiful colors have kept me coming back and now I take great pleasure in selecting the perfect color for my mood. Currently, this is what I'm sporting. (I buy mine at Walgreen's or Walmart and generally pay around $1.99 for these, I think).
Yoga
Yes, folks, I consider yoga a splurge. Mainly because this requires time. I like to go to Everything Zen Yoga studios in Orlando. I have this on my to do list for the month. Will I make it? We shall see!
Massage
Ah yes! The elusive massage. This is on my list. Now, the last one I got was a hot stone massage over at Reflections Spa. I'm ashamed to say how long ago that was. In any case, I want one this month. And next month is my birthday so I'm going to make time for one then too.
Grace
Cut yourself some slack, show yourself some grace. This is probably the hardest thing to do but I think it's the best way to take care of you.
Want to know why this is listed under the health category? If we don't take care of ourselves, who will? I know I've suffered from some illness in the last year because while I run around taking care of everything else, there's no one to take care of me. So this is what I will be doing. Not just on Valentine's Day but always.
How do you love on yourself?
