Mami Mondays: Staying Well

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All thoughts and opinions (and sweat) are purely my own. I told you guys about stopping at the Wellness Bus a few weeks back. That trip started me off into taking action. I know the test said my body was 26 but if I plan on staying young and healthy, then there are things that I know I could be doing better these days.

Two things keep coming back up as I try to turn the tide and return to healthy living. Food and exercise.

Ever since the bus stop, I have been walking (my knees are not happy). If I can get it done early in the morning, that's perfection but most days, I go for my stroll in the evening. I'm looking forward to the temperature not being Hot-as-Hades so I can do a lunch stroll instead. It's hard juggling work and the kid and exercise plus everything in between. At least for me, it is.

Planning ahead is key. That includes my meals. I've been trying out the Homegrown Co-op. There, I can order my fruits and veggies (fresh from the farmers!) and pick up over the weekend for the following week. I think with food, it's been more of an effort in eating fresh than "healthy" since that varies for folks and I don't think it lasts.

The name of the game here is being able to continue to keep my body healthy. I've been doing some research on endo and some of the non-medical ways in which I can help myself. Nutrition is big on the list.

For me, this past month has really been about making better decisions for myself. We don't have to wait until January 1st to embark on new adventures or on taking care of our bodies.

I feel as if I'm on my way to a better version of me. I love that I'm on this path and I really like that I didn't wait for a set date or time to start. I just moved forward with it after seeing how lucky I am to have gotten a clean bill of health.

For the ninth year, Walgreens and the National Urban League have joined together for this much-needed community outreach program dedicated to providing free preventative and early detection health services to urban and at-risk communities across the country.

Is the bus stopping in your city? Check out their site to see if they’re coming to a Walgreens near you!
