It's Not Easy Being Green...Or a Blogger
Can I talk to you? Can I take today to chat and just share my thoughts? It's not easy being me. I thought about that last night (and not for the first time). Kermit thought he had it rough but, his life was a piece of cake in all his wonderful greeness and only needing to worry about a pig stalking him.
I get excited (or pissed off) about things that most of the people I know don't understand. Do you know how hard that is? To be so excited about a brand contacting you to potentially work with them and get a blank stare from your friends? Â To suddenly have your Klout score that you have worked hard to raise (you know as in, gone about your business day in and day out on The Twitter without giving Klout a second thought) plummet and have your friends ask you what Klout IS? It's not easy. Because most people have no clue what you're talking about.
Life is hard. I mean I know that to you guys, I'm all glamorous and fabulous (that is what you think about me, no?). Yes, I am having to host a dance party in order to review a product. Yes, I did just go on a tour of the city beautiful that left me salivating over a Chevy car AND the most delicious Caesar salad I've ever tasted.
But it's not always fun and games. I'm having to figure out how to reach out to brands that I love and crush on without getting rejected, I have to navigate my way through a field of other bloggers and social media groups in order to ultimately find my way to my purpose. And there are these awesome blogger communities that get me hot and bothered if I ever see them in my mentions stream or inbox. I don't lie.
So I thought I'd help out my friends that read (or not) my blog and want to know what the hell I'm so happy/mad about with a little comparison of what some of the things I say might sound like in your world.
My Klout score just took a nose dive is the same as you got a bad review from a supervisor and eventually, the person that you report directly to (and that will maybe hire you for another assignment/give you a raise) will find out thereby screwing up your chances.
I was just asked to guest post or be featured is equivalent to your VP/President coming to you and saying, hey! I really loved what you did in that last PowerPoint presentation and I'm wondering if you could make one up for me for this meeting I got going on next week.
I just won a conference pass! Well, this one translates to about the same thing except for you it might be more like: I just won a pass for a retreat that's in Miami Beach or Vegas AND they're going to give me loads of awesome stuff when I get there that I will hardly be able to carry but I'll make sure I post pictures so that you can see what I'm talking about. Come on, you know you'd be excited!

Ok, I'm off my soapbox. Now if you'll excuse me, I gotta go play with my Wii for my next assignment.
