Holiday Scents for the Season
Disclosure: This shop has been compensated by #CollectiveBias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. I ADORE this season. For so many reasons. But mostly because of the scents of the holidays bring back so many memories. This past week, I was strolling through Publix when I came across this fabulous display of all things wintery.
I don’t live in the cold weather of my youth but I still try to hold on to the scents of the season. I love having pine cones in the house. And fake snowflakes because well, that’s all I have in Florida. Decorating is a must around these parts. But nothing beats the scents.
Which is where Glade® comes in. Because it's all about the #GladeHolidayMood. I am such a fan of their Winter Collection! Why you ask? Because it pulls at my heart strings. Scent is the strongest tie to a memory, did you know that? Even though some days I feel like all I’m smelling is wet dog and dirty socks (hey Glade®, there’s an idea for ya), nothing pulls me into the season the way that a good scent from the Winter Collection does.
When I was at Scholastic, we had an office decorating contest during the holidays. And I ADORED it (we also did a big Halloween contest which I won, REPEATEDLY! But, I digress). One year I decided that I would turn my office in a gingerbread house. I made a roof complete with Neccos, candy hanging from the roof, an arch down the hallway that led to the gingerbread house, a blow up Santa, candy canes, the whole shebang! But you know what set my awesomeness off the charts? The scent of Gingerbread Jingle™. You could not escape it! As you got closer and closer, the scent hit you and I could see people’s faces just melt and their eyes would slowly drift into whatever memory the Gingerbread Jingle™ plugin pulled them into. It was divine!
Y’all! I would’ve won too! Unfortunately, the snotty nosed 3rd graders that came to sing Christmas carols got to pick the winner and Ed, who had decorated his office in Spongebob Squarepants Christmas décor, won. I’m still bitter about that loss, in case you’re wondering.
But thankfully, I still have my Glade® Winter Collection to keep me company. This year, I am looking forward to trying Frosted Cookie Party™ for Christmas and during Thanksgiving, I am planning on decking out the house in Apple Cinnamon Cheer™.
Of course if your house is going to smell like gingerbread yumminess, you really shouldn’t torture folks because they will totally be in the mood to eat the gingerbread house. And we don’t want people licking your walls so, try your hand at these gingersnap cookies that I can’t keep in the house. This makes 5 dozen cookies. Because…you should totally give some to the mailman.

What was the strongest scent that you can recall during the winter season? What brings you back to those awesome days of coziness, family and holiday cheer?
