Fun In The Sun!
We finally made it to the beach! I was happy to get out in the sun and look at some clear blue waters.
I love just sitting at the beach, don't you? Though my new favorite beaches are now on the west coast of Florida, I will say that Melbourne Beach is my new favorite East Coast beach. Partly because it's only a short drive away. And mostly because of the blue waters and the fact that the beach isn't packed with people. I suppose I shouldn't even tell you lest my peaceful beach get an influx of fans.
The original thought was that we'd stay overnight but, with everything I had on my plate, we did not. Some days, don't you just feel like being irresponsible and throwing caution to the wind? Since I birthed the frog princess, I don't think I've been able to do that and I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to again. Yes we have fun and we are silly and happy but I seem to lack the ability to throw caution to the wind these days. Perhaps when the business is running itself, I'll be able to (insert sarcastic laughter here).
Anywho, my plan is to not take another summer for granted and spend as much time out as we possibly can. This means that we have to protect ourselves. The frog princess has already lectured her dad about wearing "sunseen" so that he doesn't hurt his skin. I think it's pretty adorable.
Recently, Neutrogena sent over their summer suncare line for us to try. Needless to say, the products made their way into our bags and will remain there the entire summer.
I think that the kid has a favorite. I know it's one that I will be using a lot this summer on a daily basis as she has a lot of outside time and project at school (gardening, water days, etc). The Wet Skin spray is the bomb-diggity because it takes so little time to spray it on. And I love that even when she sweats, she's protected (FYI, I thought girls were supposed to perspire. This chick sweats!).
She likes it because it doesn't cut into her playtime. Is it just me or is the "moooom" whine passed down through the generations? Especially when it's a beautiful day and they just want to play while you attempt to lather on (or spray on) some protection. So she got the Wet Skin for her body and then I did lather some Beach Defense™ Broad Spectrum SPF 70 on her face.  Though I will say, she was pretty good when I reminded her that this was "sunseen" so that her skin wouldn't burn. I wonder where she learned that from? I have no recollection of saying that but, perhaps I did (pats self on back).
Here's a short video about protecting your skin. Guess the frog princess already knows all of this:

And yes, mami and daddy used sunscreen and sunblock too! You are never too old or too young to protect your skin!
The one thing I forgot on this beach trip? A book! I would've had time to read but alas, in all the packing frenzy I left my book on my nightstand.
