How Mami Got Her Breakfast Groove Back

[alert type="info" close="false"]Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All thoughts, opinions and happy belly are purely my own.[/alert] I struggle with breakfast, y'all. It gets harder and harder because my brain is aware of how important it is for me to eat a good breakfast in the morning so that I have the wherewithal to get through my very full days. But If I don't plan my days, and put my foot down when it comes to ensuring that I take the time for it, then it's all downhill from there.

Eat Special, Feel Special! The Frog Princess, who a little too conscious about healthy and not healthy, asked me why I wasn't eating breakfast every morning right along with her. Madam! I don't need you to tell me that "breakfast is important for you" thankyouverymuch. But, I kinda did.

We are a household of Special K® lovers. At any given point in time, you'll find at least 2 different types of cereals in the pantry. We try to eat as healthy as possible so, it's no surprise that this cereal is a staple in the house.

Why, then, was I not engaging in breakfast more often? I don't think I'd found "the one". The one that got me back in my breakfast groove was Special K Red Berries. I love strawberries and this cereal has them. Real ones! It's also made with whole grains and gives me fiber (TMI: I need), folic acid and vitamin D. More importantly, I feel it gives me the nutrients I need to kick off my day right.

Eat Special, Feel Special!

I notice a BIG difference between the days I've skipped breakfast and the days I don't. I also find that when I start the day off with a healthy breakfast, I tend to make better choices for lunch. So, no pizza for me. I'm a lover of soups and salads and make good use of that love when I'm trying to do better.

Of course, planning is essential. These are the things I must do in order to ensure I eat healthy:

  1. Start my day off with a nutritious cereal like  Special K Red Berries.
  2. Plan my snacks ahead of time. This means I cut up my celery, prep any fruits and keep them easily accessible for when I get a craving. I am 100% more likely to grab nuts, fruit or veggie if I've prepped ahead of time.
  3. Make a weekly dinner menu. A lot of times I will deviate from one of the days but if I know ahead of time what I'm making, I find that I'm not as stressed out about dinner when 5:30 p.m. comes around.

Do you have a favorite cereal to kick off a great day of healthy eating? What special choices do you make to feel special?
